Video of Erie Steelhead Hearing Now Available Online

HARRISBURG – Video of the Senate Game and Fisheries Committee's recent hearing to examine the steelhead fishing industry in Erie is now available online, according to Senator Richard Alloway II (R-33).

The two-hour hearing, which featured testimony from several members of the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission, included testimony on the state of the steelhead industry in Pennsylvania, the financial status of the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission and Lake Erie management and operations. Video of the hearing is available at www.senatoralloway.com.

"The steelhead fishing industry is an important part of Erie's local economy, and this hearing gave the committee a better understanding of the challenges facing the industry," Alloway said. "Many interested individuals did not have an opportunity to attend due to prior commitments, so this online video will allow interested parties to learn more about the current state of the steelhead industry in Pennsylvania from the comfort of their own home."

Testifiers included Chuck Murray, PA Fish and Boat Commission Fisheries Biologist for Lake Erie Research; Tim Schaeffer, PA Fish and Boat Commission Bureau Director for Policy Planning and Communications; and PA Fish and Boat Commission Scott Bollinger, Access Area Development.
