Senator Alloway Cosponsors Legislation to Keep Consumers on Do Not Call ListHARRISBURG – Senator Richard Alloway II (R-33) has cosponsored legislation that would remove the requirement for consumers to register for the state’s Do Not Call list every five years. Under current law, individuals who sign up for the Do Not Call list will have their names included on the list for five years, and consumers must register again every five years to avoid calls from telemarketers. Senate Bill 304 would allow consumers to remain on the list until the phone number is no longer valid or until the consumer asks to have the number removed from the list. “The requirement to register for the list every five years is a burden for many consumers, and I am hopeful that this legislation will make life a little easier for individuals who want to avoid annoying phone solicitations,” Alloway said. Senate Bill 304 has been approved by the Senate Consumer Protection and Professional Licensure Committee and sent to the full Senate for consideration.
