Alloway Cosponsors Legislation to Cut Self-Employment Tax

HARRISBURG – Senator Richard Alloway II (R-33) is cosponsoring legislation that would reduce the self-employment taxes paid by many small businesses across the Commonwealth.

Senate Bill 178 would allow self-employed taxpayers to exclude half of the self-employment taxes paid to the state.

"Our small businesses have been hit hard during the current recession, and we must take action to help these businesses create and retain jobs," Alloway said. "Small businesses employ the majority of Pennsylvania’s workforce, and this legislation would be an important step toward putting our state on the road to economic recovery."

The legislation was introduced earlier this month and was referred to the Senate Finance Committee for consideration.
